Mobile Application Repository(MAR) is a database where metadata (development objects modeled for a mobile client application) is stored. It also contains system tables that hold header data related to development objects. Mobile Application Studio (MAS) connects to the MAR to store and retrieve metadata during design time of the application.The metadata contained in the MAR must be generated into .dat files and made available during runtime of the mobile client application.

Note

In the system landscape, the MAR is installed on the Mobile Repository Server (MRS). All mobile development workstations connect to the MRS to access the MAR.

The Application Repository Services (ARS) provide support required for creating or customizing a mobile client application. Services like eliminating naming conflicts, version control, locking mechanism, user management, message handling, multilingual support  are implemented as features in MAS and also supported by the MAR.
