Definition

An auction is a dynamic pricing mechanism that sets the price of a product interactively based on predefined rules. The auction rules define the bidding process, the winner determination, and the final price.

Note

A product or service for auction is an auction item.

Use

As a seller, you can:

Create auctions to sell products on-line.
Set a reserve price. If the highest bid is below the reserve price then the auction item will not be sold in the auction.
Promote sales.

Structure

All auctions in Internet Sales are currently forward with full lot.

Forward means, a seller creates an auction and customers bid on the auction item. The bidding price starts low and increases until the winner is determined.

Full lot means the customer has to bid on the entire set of products in an auction.

Example

If a seller creates an auction to sell ten telephones, then the customer must bid on all ten telephones.
