Creating an Attribute List
Attribute lists are required for modeling of profiles within the Segment Builder.
The settings you require will vary according to the data source in question. To create attribute lists containing data from all data sources, you will need to have:
· Created attribute sets in CRM Marketing. For more information, see Creating an Attribute Set.
· Created an InfoSet query.
· Created a BW report in a BW system. You can do this using the Business Explorer Analyzer.
· Created an address list in External List Management
From the Customer Relationship Management menu, choose Marketing ® Segmentation of Business Partners ® Marketing Segments ® Maintain Data Sources for Segment Builder.
The data source assistant takes you
step by step through the process of creating data sources or attribute
lists.
To access the assistant, choose the
icon from the menu bar. The following overview of the procedure should however still be
perused, especially the hints regarding creating filters, changing attribute
properties, and the use of pictograms.
1.
Choose
Create
Data Source.
2.
Enter the relevant Origin type
(attribute set, Business Warehouse Cube, InfoSet, External List Management)
and the other required data and choose
Save.
3.
Choose
or
to revert to the locator and the initial
screen.
1.
Choose
Create
Attribute List and enter a description, segment
category, and segment type for the attribute list.
For more information on segment types and segment
categories, see the Implementation Guide under Customer Relationship
Management
® Marketing
® Segment Builder
® Define Segment
Types.
2.
Choose
Save.
3.
Choose Assign Data Source and
select the relevant data source(s).

To select multiple data sources, press and hold down
the Shift or Ctrl key on your keyboard when selecting with the
mouse. You can assign as many data sources to
an attribute list as you require (see under Prerequisites
above).
4.
Open up each data source and select
those attribute(s) that you want to include in the list. To select
all attributes for a given data source, place your cursor on the data source
and choose
.
5.
To view the properties of a data source
within an attribute list, place your cursor on the data source and choose
. The system displays the dialog box Data Source Properties
showing technical information including the origin type.
...
1.
To create a filter for an attribute,
place your cursor on the attribute and choose
Create
Filter.
2. Enter the criterion to apply to and a description for the filter. Depending on the type of attribute, you will either select from predefined values or enter your own values.

In the Segment Builder, distribution of business
partners across all the attribute values for a given attribute can only be
displayed if all these attribute values have been selected and the
attribute activated in the list. If, for
example, you were to select only the attribute value "Single" for the
attribute "Marital status", the Segment Builder could display the number of
business partners matching this criteria, but not the number matching the
other values for this attribute (divorced, married, widowed, and so
on). You cannot select an attribute value
"Other" for the remaining values, but must specify each value in
turn. Alternatively, you could build an "Other" value using an InfoSet
query.
3.
If you have set more than one filter
value for an attribute, you can switch the order of these filter values by
using the
and
icons.
4.
To view filter properties, place your
cursor on the filter value and choose
.
In addition to the standard display forms (bar chart, pie chart, and so on) for displaying the distribution of attribute values, you can also display these values in the Segment Builder using pictograms. You assign these pictograms to the filters defined for an attribute. To do so, proceed as follows:
...
1. On the Create Filter dialog box, choose Assign Pictogram.
2. Select the relevant pictogram from the list and choose Enter.
3. Repeat this procedure for all the filter values defined for a given attribute. If you do not assign a pictogram to a given filter, a default pictogram will be used.
4. For this attribute, select an attribute type to which the display type "pictogram" is assigned. For more information on this assignment, see the Customizing activity Assign Attribute Types to Display Types.

The pictograms themselves must first be imported
into the Mime Repository using the Object Browser. This procedure is explained in OSS note
0451582.
...
1.
To view and if necessary change the
properties of an attribute within a list, place your cursor on the attribute
and choose
.
The system displays the Attribute Properties
dialog box.
2. You can change the description of the attribute and the attribute type, that is, the way in which the attribute is represented in the Segment Builder (pie chart, bar chart, and so on).

For attributes deriving from Business Warehouse
cubes or from InfoSets, you can also add filter conditions that specify the
values to apply for the key figure to be read. In the attribute context menu, choose Filter conditions
and enter the variable name and the corresponding values that you want to
apply. For example, you could specify a
certain period and sales office for the key figure
"turnover".
3. In Properties, you can also select an update cycle for your attributes, which makes it possible to store the determined attribute distributions in a cache for a freely-definable period of time, thus improving performance. For more information, see the IMG documentation under Customer Relationship Management ® Marketing ® Segment Builder ® Configure Caching for Attributes.
Choose
to view
the attribute list as it will appear in the Segment Builder. Ensure that the attributes in the attribute list appear in
a logical order.
