Object documentation Runtime Version Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Definition

Compilation of all the master data related to a knowledge-base object that is valid on a specified date.

Use

The runtime version is a replicable copy of all the configuration-relevant master data of a knowledge-base object that is valid on a specified date. The runtime version thus fulfills a versioning function.

Structure

A runtime version specifies the following selection criteria for master data:

·        Validity date

Caution

The validity date determines a “snapshot” of all objects in your knowledge-base object at a certain date. The runtime version does not contain information on the validity of individual objects of your knowledge-base object (such as characteristics). Using the validity date of the runtime version, the IPC interprets all objects of your knowledge-base object as “valid from”.

To use objects in the product configuration that have a later validity date in your SAP system, generate a new runtime version with the respective validity date.

·        Class type

Integration

When creating a new runtime version, new database records are created.

When you change (update) the same runtime version, the corresponding database records of the runtime version are overwritten.
