Formula
Dependencies
You use formula dependencies to do the following:
· Describe dependencies between various characteristics of an object
· Calculate and set values
· Restrict value ranges
· Set default values
Integration
Formula dependencies are one of the three dependency types available. For more information on the other dependencies, see Table Dependencies and Conditions for Characteristics.
Formula dependencies consist of two input areas: a formula part and a conditions part (see the sections Formula and Conditions on the user interface of the dependency editor).
In the Conditions part, you enter the conditions under which the formula is to be applied. You can use various logical conditions, which are explained in the context-sensitive help in the editor itself.
See also the Expression Help in the editor for the formula part.

We also advise you to use the input help when entering formulas and conditions.
1. In screen area 4 (see the Figure) of the product modeling environment initial screen, choose the tab page Formula Dependencies.
2. Enter the name and a short description for the condition for the characteristic.
3.
Choose the Formula
column and then

4. Enter a formula and a condition (see example below). Use the context-sensitive help and the F4 help (see Working with the Dependency Editor).
5. In the Explanation area, enter an explanation of the dependency.
6.
Choose Continue
