Easy Enhancement Workbench 

Use

With the Easy Enhancement Workbench, you can use a Wizard to extend business objects by new fields or tables without additional development effort. All necessary development steps in the ABAP Dictionary, in the user interface elements, or in the exchange of data, are generated automatically. The Easy Enhancement Workbench can also create Customizing Includes. This is done without modification; that is, no effort is required to carry out an upgrade.

Compatibility with SAP CRM Release 3.1

As of SAP CRM 3.1, the Business Partner and the Business Transaction can be extended by new fields in the UI by using the Easy Enhancement Workbench. For SAP CRM 4.0, you can also do this in the SAP GUI, SAP BW, or Mobile Client. Objects to be extended for SAP CRM 3.1 must be migrated before they can be processed further. This adjustment to SAP CRM 4.0 is carried out automatically by the system as soon as such an SAP CRM 3.1 extension is changed in the Easy Enhancement Workbench. All data already entered is hence retained.

If an SAP CRM 3.1 extension is not to be changed, no migration is necessary. Existing extensions continue to run with SAP CRM 4.0.

Changing Mobile-Relevant Extensions

Using the Easy Enhancement Workbench, you can add, change, or delete as many fields as necessary in the development system. If an extension is communicated to the Mobile Client, the former must be changed to become exclusively compatible. Deleting or shortening fields in a productive system is then forbidden because this would disrupt communication between the server and the Mobile Client. For more information, see SAP Note 432101.

If several extensions of the same extension type are to be created (for example, adding new fields to the Business Partner), these are all merged in the same Customizing Include (for example, CI_EEW_BUT000). You must therefore take care to transport all extensions for an extension type together. If you do not do this, activation of the Customizing Include in the target system will have errors until all extensions of the corresponding type have been imported.
