Use

You can formulate conditions to make data analysis more efficient. In the Web application, the data is restricted in accordance with the conditions so that only the part of the results area in which you are interested is displayed.

Caution

Conditions have no influence on results rows. In other words, the results row matches the results row of the table without this condition.

You can find additional information about the scope of functions for conditions under Conditions.

Prerequisites

You have called up the conditions function to change or define a condition.

·        In the Web item List of Conditions.

·        In the Web item Ad-hoc Query Designer

·        In the toolbar of the standard Web template

Procedure

Defining Conditions

...

       1.      Specify a description for the condition in the Description field.

       2.      If you want to just define the condition, and do not want to execute it in the Web application, remove the check from the Active checkbox that is there by default.

       3.      You now have the following options:

Choose All Characteristics in the Drilldown if you want to evaluate the individual conditions for all of the characteristics in the drilldown, independently of one another.

Example

The condition row is Sales Top Five.

If the Customer characteristic is the only one in the drilldown, the top 5 customers as far as sales are concerned are displayed because of the condition. If the Product characteristic is the only one in the drilldown, the top five products with regards to sales are displayed. Additionally, if Customer and Product are in the drilldown, the top five customers and the top five products with regards to sales are displayed, as well as all 25 combinations of the two.

-         Choose Selected Characteristics Only and the relevant characteristic if you want to evaluate the individual condition(s) only when this characteristic is in the drilldown.

Example

The condition row is Sales Top Five.

You have selected Customer as the only characteristic. The condition is only evaluated if Customer is in the drilldown. Only the top five customers with their sales are displayed.

-         Choose Selected Characteristics Only and several characteristics if you want to evaluate the individual condition(s) for combinations of characteristics.

Example

The condition row is Sales Top Five.

You have selected the Customer and Product characteristics. The condition is only evaluated if Customer and Product are in the drilldown at the same time. The option All Characteristics in Drilldown displays the top five customer-product combinations with sales, meaning only five rows instead of 25 (see above).

       4.      Specify the values that should satisfy the condition in the area Single values of the condition. A condition row is always derived from the determination of a key figure or structure used in the query, an operator, and a value that matches the operator.

a.       Make a check in the checkbox.

b.       In the dropdown box select the key figure or structure.

c.       Select the operator from the second dropdown box.

For the following operators use both input fields for entering a "from" and "to" value:

-         [ ] for entering values that lay within an interval

-         ] [ for entering values outside an interval

For the remaining settings, enter the value in the first input field:

Note

You have three input rows by default. You can show further rows with New Row.

       5.      Choose Transfer.

Changing Conditions

...

       1.      In the Web item List of Conditions click on a condition and select entry Change in the context menu. The Definition of a Condition dialog box appears.

       2.      Change the settings of your condition.

Note

If you want to delete a setting, remove the check from the checkbox in one of the rows in the are Single Values of the Condition.  This row will no longer appear when the Definition of a Condition dialog box is called again.

Deleting Conditions

...
