Function documentation Reversing the Sign Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You can change the display behavior of nodes in the query by reversing the sign.

This is purely a display function and has no effect on calculations.

Prerequisites

To be able to use this function, the hierarchy in question needs to have flexible hierarchy structures, that is, it needs to be loaded via the PSA and must have transfer rules.

Refer to Special Features when Loading using the PSA.

Functions

In the InfoObject maintenance, define whether sign reversal is possible for the InfoObject (see Tab Page: Hierarchy). When sign reversal is activated for hierarchies, the attribute 0SIGNCH is included in the communication structure for hierarchy nodes. In the hierarchy maintenance, for each hierarchy node, you can specify whether the sign is to be reversed for the transaction data booked to these nodes for display in the query.

For a detailed account of the procedure, refer to Using Sign Reversal.

Example

You have a hierarchy based on receipts and expenditure. According to accountancy logic, receipts are displayed with a negative sign, while expenditure is displayed with a positive sign. Adding these gives the profit.

However, you may want to display the query receipts with a positive sign when wanting to ignore accountancy logic, for example in reports for managers who see receipts as a positive quantity. The sign reversal function can be applied to still obtain the correct total, since it is only the display of the nodes and not their actual value that is changed. Sign reversal can be activated for those nodes for which you want it to apply, in this case, the receipts.

In the following example, sign reversal is activated for the REV node (Revenue) and its subnodes. The amounts are displayed with a negative sign. Sign reversal means that these entries are displayed as positive in the right-hand column.
