Procedure documentationCreating BW Documentation

Use

You have the option of adding a document in various formats (for example MS Word, Power Point, PDF, BMP, HTML) to each BW object (for example, InfoObjects, InfoCubes, InfoSources).

Documents are stored in the Business Document Service (BDS). Documents are always logically assigned to a BW object. You automatically use a transport connection to do this.

Procedure

  1. Select the object for which you want to create a document, and go to the object maintenance screen.
  1. Use Display « Change to switch to the editing mode. Then choose the pushbutton Documentation.
  1. In the box BW Documentation that appears, you can;

display the delivered SAP documentation:

The pushbutton Display SAP Documentation opens the delivered SAP documentation in a modeless HTML window.

import a file:

Via Create ® Import File you can upload existing documentation from a file and apply it directly to a BW object.

start an application:

Via Create ® Application, you have the option of starting your Office applications and creating your documentation directly in the relevant application.

export a file:

You can use the pushbutton Export to export into a file the documentation you created.

Note

If you have created documentation specific to an object then this version has priority over the SAP documentation when you call up documentation.

You can still call the SAP documentation via Display SAP Documentation.
