Application Processes
Application processes are processes that are automated in the process chain maintenance. They represent BW activities typically executed in the operative use of BW.
The application processes supported by the process chain maintenance are:

Loading process and postprocessing |
· Execute InfoPackage You can find further information about the data loading process under Scheduler.
If you use process chains, the automatically integrated processes are ignored and have to be implemented using the process chain. For example, if you have selected the processing types Only PSA and Subsequently in Data Targets in the InfoPackage from the Processing tab page, and you are using this InfoPackage in a process chain, then the further processing into the data target does not automatically happen. Instead, it only happens if the process Read PSA and Update Data Target is scheduled in the respective process chain after the loading process. · Read PSA and Update Data Target · Saving hierarchies · Updating ODS Object Data (Further Updating) · Exporting data to external systems |
|
Data target administration |
· Constructing indexes · Constructing database statistics · Initial Filling of New Aggregates · Rolling up Filled Aggregates · Deleting data target contents in full · Deleting the entire contents of the linked, transactional ODS |

Reporting Agent |
· Exception Reporting · Printing in the Background · Pre-calculating Web templates · Pre-calculating value sets You can find additional information under Including Packages in the Process Chain in the Report Agent documentation. |

Other BW processes |
· Adjusting time-dependent aggregates |

· Process Chain local · Workflow (also remote) |

You can call up documentation for a
process type in the BW system by marking the process type in the overview tree
and choosing F1. The
tree is located in the left-hand screen area of the process chain maintenance.
You can also add a process to the dialog window in which the variant is fixed
before choosing
