Basic Principles of Detailed Navigation
Use
Detailed navigation has two areas:
The detailed navigation is available as a Java iView on a page in the content area (default value at delivery). You can change it if desired and execute the detailed navigation in the iPanel. See also
Detailed Navigation as an External Service in the iPanel.Features
The following graphic explains how detailed navigation works:
Within the folder content area, only two hierarchy levels may be displayed. If there are more folders, you can navigate in the hierarchy by clicking on the other folders.
The following graphic shows this principle:

In this case detailed navigation displays folder F113 (with its subnodes F1114), service S3 and the page itself. The page is highlighted since it is active at the moment, that is, its contents can be viewed in the content area. Only two levels are displayed in the folder content area. There are more folders below folder F1114. These only become visible if the user clicks on F1114.

If your Portal is running using Netscape Navigator 4.7, the principle described above does not apply. Netscape does not show two role hierarchy levels. Instead, the completely expanded hierarchy tree for the role is displayed in the detailed navigation screen. Your users can click directly on the individual entries within the role (external services and pages). You can not click on folders.
You can find out how to define the detailed navigation under
Definition of the Detailed Navigation.
