Definition and Provision of Role Contents

Use

Before you create a role, all the objects that can occur in this role must be available in the PCD. In your concrete work this means that all the objects must appear in the view area.

You must provide the following objects:

Pages containing iViews
Worksets
External Services (SAP transactions, Web pages, BEx Web Applications, etc.)
Configured master iViews

Creating the role mainly involves creating folder hierarchies and adding the objects mentioned above to them.

To fill the PCD with content, you can also:

Migrate SAP roles with contents (External Services) from the R/3 System to the PCD if you want to re-use these roles. Read also Migration of SAP Roles and Services to the Enterprise Portal. You can then use the contents and structures of the R/3 roles in the portal roles.

You can find information about integrating SAP applications in the Enterprise Portal in the documentation "Integration of SAP Applications" in the Administration Guide. You can link SAP applications to the portal as Java iViews and External Services.

Import roles and other objects from the iViewStudio to the PCD. An import function is provided for this purpose. Read also Import and Export of Roles.
