Creating Logos and Folder Symbols

Use

It is possible to replace the existing folder symbols in the BEx Browser with company-specific images and logos. The folder symbols are used to identify a folder graphically, and are found in the right half of the BEx Browser. The logo is displayed in the upper-right corner of the white title line in the BEx Browser.

Functions

You can assign different folder symbols to different systems. All the users in a system are given identical folder symbols. There are no user-specific folder symbols.

Folder Symbols

A maximum of 32 different folder symbols are possible. Each folder has two folder symbols assigned to it. One folder symbol is for the normal display of the folder, and a second folder symbol is used when the folder has been selected, that is when the mouse pointer is positioned over the folder.

Only complete pairs of folder symbols (normal and selected) that are numbered consecutively are loaded into the system.

Logos

There must always be a logo with the file name "wdbblogo.bmp", because this file is used to check the validity of the folder symbols on the local PC. If you do not want to display a logo, the image used for the file "wdbblogo.bmp" can also be made ‘transparent’.

The width is adjusted according to the size of the window.

Colors

You can use a maximum of 256 colors that you can get from the SAP Enjoy color palette.

You find examples for folder symbols that use the SAP Enjoy color palette on the installation CD under "gui\Windows\Win32\bw\themes", or on your local PC under "c:\program files\sappc\sapgui\themes\default".

Use the color index 253 to generate a transparent background.

You use the color settings in the SAP GUI settings to modify the colors with indexes from 73 to 96. You the SAP GUI symbol in the start toolbar to make color settings for the SAP GUI.

Blend these colors to create interesting effects for the normal folder symbols. It is best to use contrasting colors for the selected folder symbols, to emphasize that the folder is selected.

Activities

The folder symbols are downloaded to your local PC (client) the first time you log on, and are stored under "c:\program files\sappc\sapgui\themes\bw\<SID>" During loading, the logo behaves in the same way as the folder symbols. The folder symbols are only downloaded again if they have been changed. When the system checks the validity of the folder symbols, it compares the date of the last change in the BW system with an entry in the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SAP\Bex\Browser\<SID>). The date the folder symbols were last changed on your local PC is not checked.

Administration

Call "c:\program files\sappc\bw\wdbbapp.exe /Upload" to load company-specific folder symbols into a system.

Note the spelling: There is a space between the speech marks (") after .exe and the slash (/) in front of Upload.

Choose Start ® Execute. There is no specific command for loading in the BEx Browser itself. The folder symbols are loaded from the local directory for the current system ("c:\program files\sappc\sapgui\themes\bw\<SID>"). The user who uploads the folder symbols into the system must have authorization for transaction RRMB.

It is not possible to transport folder symbols between BW systems. Upload the folder symbols into the different systems.
