Moving Objects from the View Area to the Edit Area

If you want to edit existing objects, you first have to find these objects in the view area and then move them to the edit area.

You can move the following objects from the view area to the edit area:

You cannot create pages or define the page layout in the Role Editor. You can move pages to the edit area for editing, but only in order to save the default page for detailed navigation.

You can move roles and worksets that you want to change from the view area to the edit area as follows:

  1. As original: the original version is moved to the edit area. Click on the object to be edited (always on the highest node) and choose Edit.
  2. As copy: a copy is made of the original. Click on the object to be edited as a copy (always on the uppermost node) and choose Create Copy. The copy now appears in the view area below the original object and the abbreviation "cp" is added to the name. Click on the copy and choose Edit.

You can only have one object at a time in the edit area. For example, you might want to modify a role but there is another role in the edit area; you cannot edit both roles in the edit area at the same time. Also read What should you Look Out for During Role Maintenance?

Master iViews are moved to the edit area for configuration. Read also Configuring Master iViews.

External Services are moved to the edit area for property maintenance. Read also Maintaining Properties of External Services.

You can also move objects to the edit area as a link within another object. Read also Adding Objects as Links.
