Adding and Changing External Services in the Role

Use

You can insert an External Service in a role and then change it in the role, i.e. overwrite properties. A new object is created when you add an External Service to a role. In this case you should change the properties of the External Service (of the new object) and not those of the original External Service or master iView.

The following graphic shows this principle:

External Service S1 is added to two roles R1 and R2. Two new objects, S11 and S12, are created. In S11, all the properties of S1 are copied and the value of a property is overwritten. All the properties of S1 are copied to S12, the value of a property is also overwritten, but it is a different property from in role R1. Note that the properties of External Service S1, which is based on M1, are overwritten in the role and not those of master iView M1.

Prerequisites

You inserted an External Service in a role.

Procedure

  1. Click on the External Service you want to change in the role structure.
  2. Choose Edit in the edit area.
  3. A second window appears. You can see and change the properties of the service in this window.

  4. Save your changes and close the window.

The Edit pushbutton is not always active. It is only active if a role is reloaded into the edit area and no changes were made to the role. The Edit pushbutton becomes inactive when changes are made to the role. The Edit pushbutton becomes active again once you have saved the role.
