Adding Content Objects to Roles

Use

You can add content objects to roles with the Add function.

You can add the following objects to a role:

Worksets

Master iViews

External Services

Pages

Migrated services (see also Using Migrated Services in Roles and Worksets)

You can also change objects that have been added to roles. For example you can change the properties of External Services in a role. You can also modify worksets in roles by adding or deleting entries. Master iViews can be added to a role, but no longer changed within the role. Pages cannot be edited in the Role Editor.

Activities

Place a role in the edit area where you want to add content objects.

Select an object (such as a service) in an object catalog in the view area and click on it.

In the edit area, click on the position where you want to add the object and choose Add.

The object is added to the role.

You can also add objects to a role with Drag&Drop.

When you add worksets to a role, you should note the following:

After adding the objects, the entire folder hierarchy of a workset in a role only becomes visible when you have saved the role.
Like a role, a workset consists of a folder hierarchy with entry points for top-level navigation. When you add a workset to a role, the entry points of the workset are only retained if the workset is added to the first level of the role, that is directly below the role name. The entry points are automatically deselected if you add the workset to the second level or lower of the hierarchy.
