Defining Top-Level Navigation and Entry Points
Use
The navigation bar in the title area of the portal has a first and a second level. The levels may contain any number of entries, but there should not normally be more than 7 to 9 entries. You can scroll the navigation bar.
You can define which entries should appear on the first level of the navigation bar in a role. These are the entry points. Entry points are folders containing further entries.
When a portal user selects an entry on the first level, the first entry of the corresponding second level is automatically activated. The display appearing in the content area depends on the type of the 2nd level entry:
Example:
Folders F1 and F2 are defined as entry points and therefore appear on the first level of the top-level navigation. When you click on F1, the underlying folders F1a and F1b appear on the second level. The first page in F1a is displayed in the content area. If this is not the case, at least a default page for detailed navigation should be displayed in the content area.

When you click on F2, the underlying folders F2a and F2b appear on the second level:

It is important that each role folder that appears as an entry on the second level of the initial navigation in the portal contains a page with detailed navigation. In our example this would be folders F1a/F1b and F2a/F2b. If this is not the case, no detailed navigation is displayed in the portal.
You can define the order in which entries are selected for top-level navigation from roles in the portal. Read also
Checking the Order of the Entry Points.
You assign entry points for folders in roles. In a role you can only select folders that are on the first level as entry points.
Prerequisites
You create a role with the corresponding folder structure.
Activities
You can define entry points within a role hierarchy as follows:
The folder is highlighted in the role.

Like a role, a workset consists of a folder hierarchy for which you can also define entry points for top-level navigation. A workset does not exist on its own; it must be added to a role. Note that when you add a workset to a role, the entry points of the workset are only retained if the work set is added to the first level of the role, that is directly below the role name. The entry points are automatically deselected if you add the workset to the second level or lower of the hierarchy.
