Maintaining Parameters for the PCD

Use

The PCD is delivered with default settings. These settings are valid for the following areas:

You should not change most of these settings. But you must enter your own values or check the default settings for some of the parameters.

Procedure

Open file pcd.properties for configurating the PCD and check the default entries or maintain values where necessary:

The PCD trace messages are sent on the following levels: level 1 (severe), level 2 (warning) and level 3 (information). You can define a level for the messages. The default value is Warning.

The value for PCDVersioning defines whether you want to work with active or inactive versions in the Role Editor when you edit roles or worksets.

If you set parameter PCDVersioning=DevMode, there are no inactive versions. The active version of an object is edited. Historic versions are only created during export or if you request them.

If parameter PCDVersioning=ProductionsMode, the inactive version of the object is edited. You have to activate the object in order to make the changes productive. Activation also creates a new historic version of the previous active version.

At the moment there is only the setting PCDVersioning=DevMode. This means that you always edit the active version of the object.

This parameter defines the synchronization time of the PCD cache in seconds.

Here you enter the name prefix that is automatically added to new objects when they are created in the Role Editor. Enter a unique value here and make sure that your own objects are not the same as those delivered by SAP Portals. SAP Portals objects have the prefix <com.sapportals.*>.

These parameters group objects in Domain and Collection for delivery and translation processes. Enter a value that makes sense for object grouping. Enter Test as the default value.

When you export an object, the name of the vendor is passed to the zip file. You should enter this name here. The default setting is PCDObjectVendor=Test.

This parameter value defines the duration of a session and the time when the user's cache will be deleted.

This parameter value defines when the system should check if a session is still being used.

If you are working with more than one server for the PCD, the names of the lock server that you are using must be defined.
