Maintaining the Properties of External Services
Use
After generating an External Service from a Master iView (also read
Creating External Services) you should check and if necessary change its properties. Keep the following in mind when maintaining these properties:
- Some properties that are copied from the master iView cannot be overwritten in the corresponding External Service. This includes for example the properties MasterLink (link to the corresponding master iView) and CodeLink (name of the master iView). You cannot enter values for the properties that cannot be overwritten.
- You can overwrite the copied properties for which entries are possible in the External Service.
- You can add an External Service to a role and then change it in the role, i.e. overwrite properties. A new object is created when you add an External Service to a role. In this case you should change the properties of the External Service (of the new object) and not those of the original External Service or master iView.
Prerequisites
You can find out how properties are copied from the master iView to the External Service in
Configuring Master iViews. General information about maintaining properties can be found in Maintenance of Master iView and External Service Properties.
Procedure
To maintain the properties of External Services:
- In the view area in the Role Editor, search for the relevant External Service in the catalog for External Services.
- Click on the External Service and move it to the edit area with Edit.
- Edit the service property by overwriting certain values with other values.
Result
You can add an External Service to a role. Read also
