Portal Content Directory (PCD)

Definition

The PCD is a persistent data repository for objects and their relationships. The following objects are stored in the PCD:

Roles
Worksets
Folders and folder hierarchies
Metadata of External Services (transactions, BEx Web applications)
Personalization data from External Services
Master iViews

The PCD is used for creating folder hierarchies. These folder hierarchies are the basis for creating roles. All the objects that are relevant for roles can be added to folder hierarchies.

Use

The PCD has the following main functions:

Role maintenance and navigation

Import and export of roles and the objects they contain
Migration of SAP roles to the Enterprise Portal
Service migration (automatic creation of External Service metadata from the R/3 systems in the PCD)

Distribution in connected SAP systems of portal roles and user assignments from the PCD. You can generate the relevant authorizations for the portal roles in the SAP system.
