Roles in the Enterprise Portal
Definition
Roles in the Enterprise Portal are a collection of tasks, services and information available to a group of users. The role defines the services that may be accessed. It also defines the navigation structure and how the content is visualized.
Structure
In the Enterprise Portal, a role contains one or more folders. The folders are used for structuring and contain one or more
External Services. The External Services execute either R/3 transactions, MiniApps, IACs, Bex Web Applications or URLs. Each service is linked to a certain system.
In contrast to role definition in SAP systems, the Enterprise Portal no longer makes a difference between single and composite roles. Single roles are always linked to a certain system. A single role in the Enterprise Portal, however, can contain services from different SAP systems.
