Definition of Detailed Navigation 

There are two models available for defining detailed navigation:

  1. Detailed navigation as a Java iView on a page (default)
  2. Detailed navigation in the iPanel (alternative)

Decide which model you would like to use before implementing detailed navigation. You must decide on one model since the model affects how your roles and worksets are created.

Model 1: As a Java iView on a page in the content area (default)

With this model, it is important that there are pages with detailed navigation in the folders of your roles and worksets.

Model 2: As an External Service in the iPanel
  • Create an External Service for detailed navigation
  • Change the settings in two files in the portal installation

If you have been working with model 1 and want to move your detailed navigation to the iPanel, you no longer need the special Java iView for detailed navigation on the pages you created. You therefore have to change each page that contains the iView and possibly redesign the page layout.
