Opening and Saving Objects in BW 

Use

You use this function to open, save, find and delete BW objects in the BEx Analyzer, in the Web Application Designer and in formatted reporting. The function is divided into the open and save dialog boxes. The functions in and the titles of the dialog boxes differ depending on where the open and save dialog boxes appear.

The following dialog boxes are available:

The open dialog for queries, query views, workbooks, exception and alerts, as well as for Crystal Reports (formatted reporting) and Web templates from the history, favorites, roles or workbooks view.

The object types Query, Workbooks and Alerts have their own dialog box when you open them from the Business Explorer.

You can search easily for BW objects in the search dialog, which is a sub-function of the open dialog.

The save dialog for queries, workbooks, exceptions and alerts, as well as for Crystal Reports and Web templates.

In all three dialogs, you can sort entries in the display window exclusively by their description by clicking on the Description header. The entries are sorted hierarchically according to the tree structure (from left to right, by the description of the folder and then by the descriptions of the objects in the folder). If you click once on Description, the objects are sorted in ascending order, if you click again, the objects are sorted in descending order. You return to the original view only when you leave the dialog box or when you cancel the dialog.
