Creating External Services for a Crystal Report

Use

You create an external service for a Crystal report based on a master iView. You need not know which master iView is concerned because the master iView is automatically selected.

For a Crystal report, a report definition is created using the Crystal Report designer and is stored in the Knowledge Warehouse. Several queries can be embedded in a Crystal report.

Procedure

To create an external service of the type Crystal report, proceed as follows:

  1. Select object "External Service" in the edit area and choose Create.
  2. Enter a title, technical name and possibly a description of the service and choose next.
  3. Enter an original language and choose next. Read also Translation of Roles, Worksets and External Services.
  4. Select the type. In this case it is 'Crystal Reports'.
  5. Choose next.
  6. Enter a system and choose next.
  7. Enter the key of a Crystal report and choose Next.
  8. Check your entries and choose finish.
  9. The external service is generated based on the master iView.

You now see the finished External Service and can see which properties it has. If necessary, you can overwrite certain properties of the master iView.

  10. Save the external service.

Result

You created an external service for a Crystal report that you can insert directly in a role. Read also Changing External Services in the Role.
