Properties of the Query Components

The various components of a query and the query itself have certain properties that perform important functions.

The properties of the

are described in the following section. Using the right mouse button, you call up the property dialog boxes by selecting Properties from the context menu. You call the property dialog box for the query by clicking on the corresponding symbol in the standard toolbar ( See also: Functions of the Query Definition).

Query properties

Select Query properties if you want to change the description of the query, or make settings to the Results area, Display options, Number display and Zero suppression in the query. You can also Release for OLE DB for OLAP in the query properties. The query properties also display information on the last change to the query.

Characteristic properties

Using the characteristic properties, you control the characteristic and results display (key/name, result suppression, norming, cumulating).

You can select a presentation hierarchy for the characteristic.

You can assign one display attribute per characteristic and select the type of the attribute display. For example, this could be the display attribute "Person responsible for the cost center" for the characteristic "Cost center".

Properties of a structure

The properties of a structure consist of the technical name of the structure, a description and information on the last time the structure was changed.

Properties of the selection/formula

In addition to the description, you can also determine whether the properties of a structure component have highlighting.

Depending on whether you display the properties of a calculated or a restricted key figure, only one selection of the settings mentioned here is available.

You can hide the selection or formula. Using the property dialog, you determine whether a currency translation takes place, by entering the translation type and the target currency. You define the aggregational behavior, and the exception aggregations. You determine the type of number display (display factor, number of decimal places, +/- sign switch) and the "Priority rules" if there is a formula collision.
