Functions

You insert a query into a workbook and, using navigation, generate various views of the data. You also alter settings for the characteristic display, or for the whole query. You can save this view of the data in the workbook.

If you save the workbook, then the query is not detached. You can call the workbook at a later date, create a connection to the Business Information Warehouse Server, and refresh the queries contained in the workbook.

Activities

Saving as a New Workbook

Choose Save ® Save as New Workbook... in the BEx toolbar. The SAP BEx: Save in Document Storage popup appears. Enter a description for the workbook, and select the folder (favorites or roles) in which you want to store the workbook.

Saving as an Existing Workbook

Select Save ® Save as Existing Workbook from the BEx toolbar. The active workbook is saved under the name that already exists.

Saving a View for a Query

Select Save ® Save Query View in the BEx toolbar. The SAP BEx: Save View for Query popup appears. Enter a description for the new view and select OK. The view is saved permanently and is available for Web Reporting and navigation. You can call up the saved views for a query by choosing Goto -> (your query name) from the BEx toolbar. If you have just opened the workbook, this is only available after a refresh of the query.

Saving a Workbook Locally

In the Microsoft Excel main menu, choose File ® Save or File ® Save as... , if you want to save the workbook on your PC rather than in the BW system.
