The Web Reporting Process

The following graphic gives an overview of the Web Reporting process:

  1. You create a Web template in any HTML Editor or Web authoring tool of your choice. This can be any structured HTML file.
  2. You embed one or more queries into a workbook in the Business Explorer Analyzer. You use the navigation functions to generate the navigation status (view of the data) that you want. You save this view of the query.
  3. You determine how you want the query view to be displayed in the Web. Choose Tools ® Publish to Web.

The BW Web Publisher is started.

  1. Switch to your HTML Editor or Web Authoring Tool. Insert the HTML tag that you saved to the clipboard into the HTML page (= Web Template). Save the HTML file locally.
  2. Switch to the BW Web Publisher, and load the HTML file into the Business Document Service (BDS). The HTML file becomes part of the document set. The HTML file is given a page ID that is later used for the call in the URL.

A Document set consists of a workbook and any number of HTML files (page ID), any number of views (view ID) for the query, and any number of items (item ID) that refer to views of this type.
