Definition

The Reporting Agent is a tool for scheduling reporting functions in the background. The Reporting Agent has two functional areas:

Use

In the Reporting Agent, you make settings for exception reporting, and for printing queries in the background. You group the individual settings together in scheduling packets that you can schedule for processing in the background.

With the Reporting Agent settings, you determine which InfoCube data the query analyses. Specify a drilldown sequence of characteristics for the query. For queries with variable entries, you need to assign a variant for background processing. You can specify a follow-up action for when the value exceeds or falls short of the exception threshold.

In order for the exceptions and data for printing in the background to be determined and analyzed respectively in the background, you have to assign settings to the scheduling packets.
