Use
The Business Content delivered by SAP, meaning InfoAreas, InfoObject catalogs, roles, workbooks, query elements, InfoCubes, InfoObjects, ODS objects, update rules, InfoSource transaction data, transfer rules, source systems, InfoPackage groups, Reporting Agent, and currency translation types, are all available in the SAP delivery system, the so-called D version.
In the Business Information Warehouse a differentiation is made between the following object versions:
Version |
Explanation |
D |
SAP delivery version |
A |
Active version |
M |
Changed version |
If you want to work with the Content objects, then you have to transfer them from the D version to the A version.
With Install Business Content, you can collect and transfer the Business Content delivered by SAP. In this way, all additional necessary objects are taken into account automatically, as is the sequence for the activation. You can choose whether you want to copy, compare, or not transfer the Business Content objects.

If the versions have not been matched, when you activate Business Content transferring the SAP version overwrites the active customer version.
Procedure

With the pushbutton Navigation Window On/Off on the application toolbar in the Administrator Workbench you can show and hide the left-hand navigation window.
By choosing the pushbutton Source System Assignment, you can change the selection afterwards and add or remove other source systems from the selection.
If you do not select a source system, all source systems are automatically selected.

The assignment of source systems is only relevant for transfer rules, file DataSources and InfoPackages. If there is more than one source system, only those objects assigned to the specified source system are transported. Objects that have not been assigned to the specified source systems are ignored.
Collection Mode
In the menu Collection Mode, you can determine how you want to collect objects. With Automatic Collection, the data is collected directly when selecting objects. With Start Manual Collection, the data is collected by first choosing the pushbutton Collect Dependent Objects.
Grouping
In the menu Grouping, you can determine how many objects you want to be taken into consideration. The groupings summarize all the objects of an area.
Setting |
Meaning |
Only necessary objects |
Only those objects that are really necessary for the action, that is, the transport of the selected objects, are only taken into account (minimal selection). |
In data flow before |
All objects are collected that submit data to a collected object. |
In data flow after |
All objects are collected that obtain data from a collected object. |
In data flow before and after |
All objects are collected that submit and collect data. |

For the Transport Connection function, the grouping setting is enhanced by the setting Save for System Copies. This setting means that some of the objects can be collected for a transport query. This query can be imported again by way of a system copy.

The menu Grouping is set by default to necessary objects only. If you change this setting, the new setting is used as the standard for the respective user.
Object Types
Different selection options are listed under the pushbutton Business Content in the navigation menu of the Administrator Workbench With a single-click you can set the arrangement and selection of available options as follows:

Development Classes |
All those development classes are listed in which SAP objects exist. |

Using the function Search for Object, you can also search for objects by a string (for example, 0CUST) or by pattern (for example, 0CUST_*B).
After expanding the tree structure, you can use F4 Help when selecting object types by double clicking on Select Objects. Select the required objects here and transfer them using the pushbutton Transfer Selection.

You can only use Business Content DataSources of a source system for transferring data in BW, when you have transferred these in their active forms and then run a Metadata upload.

When transferring the objects in the "Collected Objects" window, these objects are also saved in the tree display in the left-hand window, and saved for each user. This personal object list is available every time the program is restarted.
To remove objects from the personal list, select the object in question and either use the right mouse button or choose the pushbutton Remove Object from Display.
Objects that are listed more than once in the hierarchy display, are only displayed as changeable the first time they appear. Whenever they appear again, these objects are indicated in gray in the hierarchy structure and are not ready for input.
In the Active Version Available column, you will see the following display options:
If it is possible to match the SAP delivered version and the active version, then a selected checkbox is visible in the Match (X) or Copy column.
If you retain the selection then your current, existing version is compared with and supplemented by the new SAP delivery version.
If you remove the selection then the new SAP delivery version is coped in its entirety.
Setting |
Meaning |
Simulate transfer |
A test is made to see if errors are likely to occur during the transfer. The most important objects, though not all dependent objects, can be checked in the simulation. Therefore, only use the simulation as an orientation help to be able to recognize errors early and remove them. |
Transfer |
The selected objects are transferred immediately. |
Transfer in background |
The selected objects are transferred in the background. |
Transfer and transport |
The selected objects are transferred immediately and then written to a transport request in the connection. |

As the transfer of a large number of objects, particularly objects that are already active, can take a long time, running the transfer in the background is recommended.
