Transportation Management

Purpose

This process describes how you can plan using the Transportation Planning/Vehicle Scheduling (TP/VS) component.

Prerequisites

Integration between OLTP system – APO System

If the OLTP system is an R/3 System, you must generate and activate the integration model for integration in the R/3 System.

Planning within the APO System

Procedure

The planning process for TP/VS is described here. The process flow direction is described, however, all steps do not have to be carried out.

It may be sufficient to carry out planning in the background. In this case, the interactive planning step does not have to be carried out.

Planning Process TP/VS

  1. Maintain the relevant master data.
  2. Make the required running settings for interactive planning and planning in the background. You can then either plan interactively or in the background.
  3. Transfer sales orders, purchase requisitions, and transfer requirements from the OLTP system. Stock transfers can come from either the OLTP system or from Supply Network Planning.
  4. You can display the planning situation to check it.
  5. To automate the planning, you can do this in the background. This includes scheduling the optimization run and selecting the carrier. Any malfunctions that may occur can be processed in interactive planning.
  6. The manual maintenance of malfunctions that may occur in interactive planning when the optimization run is scheduled or the carrier is selected is also called Management by Exception.

  7. You plan interactively to:

To do this, use the DS planning board and optimization.

  1. Release the orders. They are transferred to the OLTP system.
  2. Planning takes place in the OLTP system: For example, in
