Release Strategy

R/3 Plug-In release refers to the release status of an R/3 Plug-In.

PI 99, PI-A 99.1, PI 2000.1, PI-A 2000.1, etc.

R/3 Plug-In version refers to either a modifying, CRT-dependent version (PI.XX) or to a non-modifying, CRT-independent version (PI-A.XX).

mySAP.com component is the new name for the former New Dimension applications.

Examples for mySAP.com components are SAP APO, SAP CRM, SAP BW.

R/3 Plug-In is:

Downwardly compatible with previous plug-in versions This means that the new version can be applied without you needing to make changes to existing settings/processes.
Downwardly compatible with previous releases of mySAP.com components. In other words, when a Plug-In is being upgraded, the previous version of the component can continue to be used.

Simultaneous availability of mySAP.com components and R/3 Plug-Ins.

R/3 Plug-Ins are directly dependent on the corresponding mySAP.com component. For this reason, mySAP.com component releases and R/3 Plug-In releases occur almost at the same time. The features of the mySAP.com component release determine the features of the R/3 Plug-In release.
