Alert Monitor

Purpose

The Alert Monitor is a standalone component of APO that enables you to have a unified approach to handling problem situations. It notifies you if a problem occurs during an ATP check or SNP run, or when production plans, demand plans or vehicle schedules are being generated in one of the APO applications.

The Alert Monitor is a tool with which planners can monitor the state of a plan. Based on the monitoring process, the plan can be readjusted whenever necessary. The purpose of the Alert Monitor is to inform planners if a condition of a plan has been violated.

Implementation Considerations

The Alert Monitor belongs to the suite of supply chain monitoring components in APO, together with the Supply Chain Cockpit and the Plan Monitor. It can be used by any supply chain manager or planner who practices exception-based management in the following areas:

Integration

The Alert Monitor is fully integrated in all the functional applications of APO. Which alerts are displayed depends entirely upon the context and must be defined in the alert profiles. For example, in the APO application Available to Promise (ATP), only ATP alerts are displayed, or only alerts relevant to certain objects. The display of alerts is also model/version dependent.

Features

There are various alternatives for viewing APO alerts:

In the miniapp, you can either view a list of alerts or a statistical display. To view alerts, you must first maintain favorites in the stand alone Alert Monitor, and then assign the settings to the user in the Internet planning book by clicking on the hyperlink.

If you access alerts through the monitoring slots in the SCC control panel, you will see only the application-specific alerts or alerts for individual products, locations and resources. For more information, see APO Document: Supply Chain Cockpit.

From the Cockpit, you can resolve problems through direct access to the corresponding transactions via context menus. You can also resolve problems through the respective application Alert Monitors.

When you access the Monitor from the control panel, the resulting window contains the name of the application in the header. If you access it through the menu, the window heading reads Alert Monitor
