Single Mixed or Multi-Mixed Resource
Definition
These resources can be used both for Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS), Capable-to-Match (CTM) and Supply Network Planning. Single mixed resources correspond to single activity resources in Detailed Scheduling, and multi-mixed resources correspond to multi-activity resources. Mixed resources are used as bucket resources in Supply Network Planning.
Use
You can calculate bucket capacities for mixed resources or maintain them separately by setting the Define buckets indicator on the Standard capacity tab page
.Calculating bucket capacities:
Both types of mixed resource calculate the bucket capacity using the resource capacity. The consequences are as follows:
Resource working time x number of resources x loss factor.
As neither setup nor sequence constraints are taken into account in Supply Network Planning, a bucket capacity which is theoretically available can be reduced using a loss factor.
With this option, you cannot maintain costs for bucket capacities.
Maintaining bucket capacities independently
If you want to maintain capacities for bucket resources only, set the Define buckets indicator for single and multi-mixed resources. In this case, you can also maintain the cost data by choosing Capacity variants ® Capacity variant quantity.
Integration
Mixed resources have effectively no influence on the maintenance of PPMs. In a PP/DS PPM, a single mixed resource is treated the same as a single activity resource and a multi-mixed resource is treated the same as a multi-activity resource. In a Supply Network Planning PPM, both types of mixed resources are treated as bucket resources.
