Prerequisites for Scheduling

For scheduling to occur properly, the transportation zones and shipping conditions must be copied from the SAP R/3 System into the SAP APO system. Once this copying process is finished successfully, you must also complete the points listed under "Prerequisites in the SAP APO System" (see below).

Prerequisites in the SAP R/3 System:

Maintain the transportation zone in the ship-to party’s address data.

As of Release 4.5, the transportation zone is an integral part of the address. You can maintain the transportation zone in the SAP menu by selecting Logistics ® Sales and Distribution ® Master Data ® Business partners ® Customer ® Create.
In earlier SAP R/3 Systems, you can maintain the transportation zone by selecting Logistics ® Sales and Distribution ® Master Data ® Business partners ® Ship-to party ® Change and proceeding to the second ship-to party screen.

Export the transportation zones into the SAP APO system. Select the transportation zones in Customizing under Sales and Distribution ® Basic Functions ® Routes ® Route Determination ® Define Transportation Zones and transport them into the SAP APO system you want to work with.

The transportation zone is in the address of central address management from R/3. If a customer, to whom a transportation zone has been assigned, is transferred via the APO Core Interface into APO, then the transportation zone of the customer address is also transferred as a location. If you do not want to work with a ship-to party in APO (for example, in the case of one-time customers), you must export the transportation zones from the R/3 System, as described above, and define the assignment of the transportation zones to the locations in APO. You can define this assignment in Customizing for the Advanced Planner and Optimizer (APO) via Advanced Planner and Optimizer (APO) ® Global Available-to-Promise (Global ATP Check) ® Transportation and Shipment Scheduling ® Interfaces ® Define Assignment of Transportation Zones to Locations.

Prerequisites in the SAP APO System

Make sure that the transportation zones were transported completely from the SAP R/3 System. You can maintain the transportation zones in Customizing under Advanced Planner and Optimizer (APO) ® Transportation and Shipment Scheduling ® Interfaces ® Maintain Transportation Zones.

Create locations with the type transportation zone (location type 1005) for all the transportation zones in the SAP R/3 System in the SAP APO system.

Maintain transportation zones in the SAP menu by selecting Master Data ® Location and entering the coordinates manually in the Geographical data section of the screen. You can also maintain transportation zones by selecting Master Data ® Supply Chain Engineer ® Maintain Model and defining the location by clicking on the map.

All locations that have location type Transportation zone must contain coordinates (latitude and longitude). Use the SE16 transaction to select location type 1005 (LOCTYPE field) in the /SAPAPO/LOC table and check the latitude and longitude (columns XPOS, YPOS). If the value in these columns is zero, you must maintain the master data accordingly.

The LOCNO field is the location processing key.

Assign the transportation zones from the SAP R/3 System to locations that have location type Transportation zone (location type 1005). You can maintain this assignment in Customizing for the Advanced Planner and Optimizer (APO) by selecting Advanced Planner and Optimizer (APO) ® Global Available-to-Promise (Global ATP Check) ® Transportation and Shipment Scheduling ® Interfaces ® Define Assignment of Transportation Zones to Locations.
Make sure that an average speed is maintained for the means of transport (vehicle). You can maintain the average vehicle speed in Customizing by selecting Advanced Planner and Optimizer (APO) ® Supply Chain Engineer (SCE) ® Maintain Transport Method.
The shipping conditions from the SAP R/3 System must be created manually in the SAP APO system and then assigned. You can maintain this assignment in Customizing for the Advanced Planner and Optimizer (APO) by selecting Advanced Planner and Optimizer (APO) ® Global Available-to-Promise (Global ATP Check) ® Transportation and Shipment Scheduling ® Interfaces ® Define Assignment of Default Vehicle Categories to Shipping Conditions.
