Batch Backorder Processing

Use

In batch backorder processing, order items are selected according to specific key fields (filters) and brought into a processing sequence for the availability check (sort). The previously confirmed quantities are rejected and the ATP check is carried out for all selected order items in the defined sequence. A new date can thereby be determined. The results are always held in a buffer. Depending on the execution mode, the results can be updated afterwards, processed or rejected later.

Batch backorder processing corresponds essentially to rescheduling in the R/3 System, though with enhanced features:

Integration

Batch backorder processing can be included in a call sequence between PP/DS or SNP and interactive backorder processing.

When a change occurs in the supply situation due to a change or a planning run in PP/DS, SNP or in changes to the location-specific master data for ATP, the location product for backorder processing (batch/interactive) is selected or marked. A netchange flag is used for selection.

To start batch backorder processing you can also evaluate the alerts. The alerts evaluation is an alternative for the filter, which selects the orders for batch backorder processing.

Within the Alert Monitor framework, interactive backorder processing can be called directly from the Alert Monitor to help cancel alerts.

Features

You can configure the orders that are to take part in batch backorder processing. A filter executes the selection of the orders.

Note that backorder processing for stock transport orders is not currently supported.

Via prioritization of the orders, you determine the orders which have a quantity assigned to them by being processed before orders with lower priority. The prioritization of the orders is ensured by the sorter.

A mass availability check is carried out for the selected orders.

Filtering of Order Items

The order items that should take part in batch backorder processing can be selected via characteristic values. In a filter type you define the order types to be considered and the characteristics for the filtering that should be used. You can store the characteristic values that should be considered for filtering in a filter variant for the filter type. Define the filter type in Customizing for the Advanced Planner and Optimizer via Global ATP ® Tools ® Maintain Filter Type.

Orders that are affected by the Alert Monitor are selected via this filter.

Orders for location products, in which the netchange flag is set, are selected.

For further information see the program documentation for the filter.

Orders Sort

Using the specifications in the sort profile you can define the sequence in which the order items in backorder processing are processed. In the sort profile you specify the characteristics, their sequence (or weighting) and the sort direction. You define the sort profile in Customizing for the Advanced Planner and Optimizer via Global ATP ® Tools ® Maintain Sort Profile.

If the sort is not sufficient (for example, with the customer number) you can define - for characteristics for which a simple sort is not meaningful - the sort of the characteristic values in a special sorting. You define the special sorting in Customizing for the Advanced Planner and Optimizer via Global ATP ® Tools ® Maintain Special Sorting. If you have maintained a special sorting, you can enter this in the sort profile.

Processing Backorders

There are three different execution types for processing backorders.

The results of backorder processing are updated immediately. The assigned quantities are locked by temporary quantity assignments until the update is completed via the connected OLTP system. The results can be checked afterwards in a log list.

The assigned quantities are not protected by temporary quantity assignments. The results can be checked in a log list. The results of backorder processing cannot be changed or updated interactively.

The results of backorder processing are not updated immediately. They are saved in a buffer and can be further processed or rejected through interactive backorder processing. The assigned quantities are locked by temporary quantity assignments. The update can also be triggered or rejected independently of interactive backorder processing.

For further information see Processing Backorders.

Activities

Access into Batch Backorder Processing

From the SAP Easy Access screen choose Global ATP ® Backorder Processing ® Backorder Processing in the Background and specify the filter type and sort profile.

You specify the filter type and select filters. You define characteristic values and select the parameters for the confirmation situation there. From there you can check the worklist, by choosing Display List. Save and specify a name for the filter variant.

You define the basic methods of the availability check and decide if Customizing should be read. You also define the execution mode for batch backorder processing.

Canceling confirmations, rule evaluation (again), determining new dates

For further information see the program documentation.

Checking the worklist

You can check the settings that you made in the filter or the sort profile. From the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Global ATP ® Backorder Processing ® Backorder Processing Worklist.

Displaying runtimes

You can analyze runtimes for backorder processing. Using the results you can schedule backorder processing better and analyze performance. From the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Global ATP ® Backorder Processing ® Backorder Processing Runtimes.

Results display for backorder processing

The order items are displayed in the results list in the order in which they were checked. You can find information on whether a change (improvement or deterioration) in the date and quantity was made through backorder processing. Access is gained via selection criteria. From the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Global ATP ® Backorder Processing ® Backorder Processing Result.

Deleting backorder processing

You should delete backorder processing regularly if necessary, in order not to burden the storage capacity unnecessarily. Backorder processing that is already in the update process cannot be deleted. From the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Global ATP ® Backorder Processing ® Delete Backorder Processing.

Updating backorder processing

From the SAP Easy Access screen choose Global ATP ® Backorder Processing ® Update Backorder Processing if you carried out backorder processing with postprocessing and want to update the results.
