Scheduling (1 R/3, 1 APO)

Prerequisites

You must be using the following systems:

You must also have done the following:

Process

  1. You start the process by creating a sales order in the SAP R/3 System.
  2. You can either let the system propose a ship-to party or enter the ship-to party manually.

Enter the requested material, quantity and delivery date.

  3. The SAP R/3 System uses the order type to determine whether shipment scheduling or transportation scheduling should generally be carried out. The following points are valid for order types for which scheduling is requested.
  4. The SAP R/3 System determines the plant for the material in each item. The APO Core Interface integration model defines whether the availability check in the SAP APO system is to be run for materials in this plant. If this is the case, scheduling can also occur in the SAP APO system.
  5. Note the following if you mix items within a sales order whose availability is checked in the SAP APO system and in the SAP R/3 System. Due to the various scheduling techniques, there can be considerable deviations between the times calculated; the transit time, in particular. Functions involving several items, such as complete delivery and delivery groups, are especially susceptible to such detrimental effects.

  6. The material availability date is calculated either in the SAP APO system or in the SAP R/3 System for the requested delivery date of an item.
  7. In the SAP APO system: The SAP R/3 System determines the attributes such as transportation zone and shipping conditions that are relevant for calling up scheduling. The SAP R/3 System then calls up scheduling in the SAP APO system. The system determines process duration at this point. The dates and times are determined based on the requested delivery date and then returned to the SAP R/3 System.

In the SAP R/3 System: The SAP R/3 System calls up local scheduling. This system also calculates the process duration and the dates and times are determined based on the requested delivery date.

  8. The system checks availability for material, plant and quantity on the material availability date.
  9. In the SAP R/3 System or in the SAP APO system: If the material availability date that was determined previously cannot be confirmed, the system redetermines the process duration, recalculates the dates and times, adds more schedule lines and returns this information to the SAP R/3 System. This is normally the case when availability is found to be insufficient or when the material availability date lies in the past.

  10. You save the sales order.
