Detailed Scheduling (DS) Planning Board

Definition

Configurable graphical planning interface for the interactive detailed scheduling of resources and orders in Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling.

Use

You use the detailed scheduling planning board to do the following:

You can graphically display different aspects of scheduling in the charts of the detailed scheduling planning board, for example, you can display the situation of operations on resources with regard to time, and the development of the resource load or pegging relationships between orders with regard to time.

You can perform interactive scheduling in the detailed scheduling planning board to solve scheduling problems such as sequence or date problems on resources. Various scheduling functions and heuristics are available in addition to manual scheduling with Drag&Drop.

The detailed scheduling planning board is integrated in different Production Planning applications. You can call up the detailed scheduling planning board

You simulate planning in the product planning table. For more information, see scheduling with the detailed scheduling planning board.

Structure

SAP issues the detailed scheduling planning board with standard settings (for example, for configuration or layout). If you want to configure a detailed scheduling planning board for your specific planning requirements, you must execute the relevant settings. For more information, see the Detailed Scheduling Planning Board and the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling.

Configuration

A planning board can consist of up to eight charts arranged over one another. You specify the configuration and layout of the DS planning board using a planning board profile.

Display period and planning period

The DS planning board displays the schedule for a time period defined by the user. You can change the schedule for a particular time period within the display period, that is, in the planning period. How you specify the time periods depends on where you call up the DS planning board.

Displayed objects

Which objects are displayed in the DS planning board depends on where you call up the DS planning board. For more information, see Selection of the objects to be displayed

Objects that can be scheduled

You specify which objects (resources, products) you can schedule in interactive Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling using a Propagation range. You can enter resources and products in the propagation range. The resources in the propagation range are relevant for resource-related scheduling in the DS planning board; the products are relevant for product-related scheduling in interactive scheduling, for example, order processing. You cannot change the schedule for objects outside of the propagation range.

Integration

The following functions and tools are available in the DS planning board:

When you schedule operations or orders in the DS planning board, the system automatically uses the functions from detailed scheduling. For example, it can automatically adjust the setup times or consider the blocks in block planning. You control detail scheduling with the help of detailed scheduling strategies that you specify in a strategy profile. You can change the detailed scheduling strategies at any time.

To optimize the schedule, you can call up the optimization in the DS planning board.

You can call up block maintenance in the DS planning board and interactively change blocks.

You can process campaigns in the detailed scheduling planning board.

You can call up the Alert Monitor at any time in the DS planning board to display scheduling problems.

You can call up the plan monitor in the DS planning board to evaluate the planning quality according to user-defined criteria and key figures.

The meaning of the various graphical representations for rows, orders and operations in the DS planning board is explained in a legend. You can also change the display of rows and graphical objects in the legend.

In the directly called up detailed scheduling planning board, you can also save the simulation version without changing the planning version. To continue editing a simulation version at a later date with the DS planning board, call up the simulation version in the DS planning board area menu.
