Master Data: Scenario 1

An R/3 System (logical system) exists 1:1 to an APO. These two systems are in a Business System Group (BSG)

Master data comes from R/3 into APO

Movement data (orders) go from the R/3 System to APO and from there go back to the R/3 System

PM/SM: the integration between movement data from this R/3 area only takes place to the APO system and not the reverse

Master Data: Scenario 2

In this third-party scenario, two R/3 systems and one APO system are displayed in a BSG. Each R/3 System manages a plant and transfers the master data of the respective system to APO.

A sales order comes from the R/3 System, in which plant 1 is managed, into APO. The APO system recognizes – on the basis of the availability of the product – that the order must be processed in plant 2 and returns the order to the R/3 System of plant 1 as a purchase order for plant 2. From the R/3 System of plant 1, the order is passed on to the second R/3 System, in which plant 2 is managed, via Idocs in ALE technology.

Since these R/3 Systems are in the same BSG, there can be no problems with ambiguity during name assignment for master data.

Example: Product 4711 was maintained. It is the same product in both R/3 Systems as well as in the APO system. Now try to create an additional product with the same name in one of the systems. This is not possible and an error message appears in the transmission log.

Within a BSG, the unambiguity of names is guaranteed.
