Material Package
(MPA)
The combination of one-time requirements relating to materials that are needed within the initial supply run for deployment, and the stocks of which must not fall below a defined reorder point after the start of a follow-up supply run.
When the initial and follow-up supply run are defined, logistical requirements are defined for force elements. These are one-time requirements relating to materials that are needed to initially supply the troops that are to be deployed, and the stocks of which should not fall below a defined reorder point after a subsequent supply run is triggered.
In accordance with this basic principle, there are different types of MPAs, such as spare parts packages, reference spare parts packages, basic load, heavy equipment reserves, and so on, which can be used in different business contexts.
Like the authorized material, MPAs can be assigned to force elements in the Structures Workbench. The system differentiates between whether the provisions are for a supporting unit or whether they are the force element’s own provisions.
During conversion, supply relationships can be used to generate purchase orders for the initial requirements, and reorder points can be updated in the material master.
MPAs have been implemented as the new application object MPA (material packages) in Integrated Product and Process Engineering (iPPE).
· General
In the standard system, both the descriptive attributes of an iPPE node (PNODID record) and the related materials, with initial requirement and reorder point, are assigned to the MPAs.
· Status
MPAs have a status, which has been realized in SAP status management. The status values Planned, Locked, Approved, Rejected, Flagged for Deletion, and Approved for Deletion are implemented.
You can edit and display MPAs in the transactions Edit Material Packages (/ISDFPS/MPA1) and Display Material Packages (/ISDFPS/MPA2). In the Structures Workbench, you can assign MPAs to force elements as logistical requirements.
