Use

The Central DBA Planning Calendar is part of the Computing Center Management System (CCMS) in the SAP System. It gives you a single point from which to manage database administration (DBA) actions in an integrated mySAP.com environment. The actions available differ according to the database platform but the method of use is the same. Examples of actions are backups, updating statistics for the cost-based optimizer, database system checks, and so on.

Note

The Central DBA Planning Calendar is only for viewing DBA actions by system. However, you can easily switch to the local DBA Planning Calendar for any R/3 System to process – that is, schedule, change, delete, or execute – actions.

The central and the local versions of the DBA Planning Calendar have a very similar user interface. The main difference is that the:

Integration

The Central DBA Planning Calendar is an administrative tool. It runs with all database platforms supported by SAP except DB2/400 (which has good equivalent tools) and is delivered as a standard part of the SAP System.

Features

Example

Mo. 07.01.2002

3 FUD 2

On system FUD for Monday 7th January 2002 (in the past), there were 3 actions planned, 2 of which had the highest status severity. For example, the highest status severity might be "Warning", in which case the entry is displayed with a yellow background.

Activities

  1. You choose a system from which to run the Central DBA Planning Calendar. We recommend you to do this.
  2. On the chosen system, you can update the status of the jobs from remote systems by using Remote.
  3. You regularly check the results using the Central DBA Planning Calendar.
  4. If you need to schedule, change, delete, or execute actions, you switch to a suitable local calendar.

Note

You can switch to any local calendar that runs the same database as the system on which you want to schedule an action. For example, if you want to schedule an action on system FUD, you can do this from the local calendar on system FIB, assuming that both systems are equivalent (that is, both run the same database and a similar database version, which supports the action you want to schedule).

  1. Make sure that you use the same time for the chosen central system and the other systems.
