Architecture Overview
The simplest installation of the J2EE Engine consists of a database, Central Services (Message Service and Enqueue Service), a dispatcher, a server process and the Software Delivery Manager (SDM).

The system consists of two instances: a J2EE central instance with SDM, and the Central Services instance. All of this can run on one physical machine, but one instance cannot be distributed on several hosts.
An installation is called a cluster installation as soon as there are more cluster elements than one dispatcher and one server process installed.
For details
on the architecture and the components of such a system see the
Architecture
Manual.
