Internet security mechanisms are intended to prevent data from being intercepted during transfer by unauthorized persons, and from being used for purposes for which it was not intended. In the Knowledge Provider, there are two potential security risks:

• URLs may be forged, allowing the forger unauthorized access to data
• The data stream may be "tapped" or forged

The following security mechanisms counteract these risks:
