Use

In Funds Management, you can describe the attributes of the master data objects (that is funds center, commitment item, and fund) by using characteristics (functional characteristics) and sort similar master data objects into classes according to freely-definable criteria.

Classifying master data objects allows you to:

The search is then carried out using the classes and the characteristics defined in the class.

Features

To classify your master data objects, use the classification system functions.

The following terms are used for the classification of master data objects:

An object is a classifiable unit (commitment item or fund)

A class is a group of objects which have common or similar attributes

The class type is a superior control unit for classes. Every class must be assigned to a class type. The following class types have been defined in the standard for the master data objects in Funds Management:

A characteristic describes the attributes of an object (such as user, expenditure type).

Characteristic values are features of a characteristic (such as Mrs. White, personnel).

Activities

An important decision when installing the classification system is how to set up a hierarchy.

You can set up a hierarchy with any variation on length and breadth that you require.

A hierarchy set up after careful thought allows easy, quick access to the objects you are looking for.

The simplest type of hierarchy is a hierarchy without characteristic inheritance. In this case, the classes from the upper hierarchy levels do not have any characteristics.

The hierarchy classes are used in this case simply as a search path for quicker access to the classes using object allocations.
