Information System 

Purpose

The information system lets you analyze all the Data in Profit Center Accounting individually as well as in a summarized form according to different criteria.

The reports in the Profit Center Accounting information system can be classified into five groups:

·         Drilldown reports

·         Report Painter reports (and Report Writer reports)

·         Summary record reports

·         Line item reports

·         Master data index

Reporting in Profit Center Accounting is always dependent on a controlling area. Profit Center Accounting does not support cross-controlling area analyses.

The controlling area can be defined as a user parameter for parameter ID 'CAC‘ and then be used automatically in future.

You need this component to analyze your profit center data.

Features

You can analyze all the data stored in the summary record table for Profit Center Accounting (table GLPCT) using the Standard Reports or your own Report Painter reports or drilldown reports.

If your system stores line items in Profit Center Accounting, you can call up a line item report and then access the original documents from these reports using the report/report interface (see Using the Report/Report Interface).

You can meet many of your reporting requirements using the standard reports. However, if these are not enough, you can create your own User‑Defined Reports quickly and easily using the drilldown or Report Painter. You can write your own ABAP/4 programs to access the data. Of course, you must have working knowledge of ABAP programming in order to do this.

The summary record display function gives you direct access and control of the data stored in the summary records. You can find further information on this subject under Display Summary Records.

You can carry out a more detailed analysis of the postings to Profit Center Accounting, for both actual and plan line items, using line item reports. For this purpose, however, line items must be updated in Profit Center Accounting, as they serve as the basis for line item reports.
