In Cost Object Controlling

Use

The report category Summarized Analysis contains reports that show aggregated data. For example, you can do target/actual comparisons at the product group level. The following summarization methods can be used in Cost Object Controlling depending on the application component and the objects:

With a summarization hierarchy, you are free to define the structures used to save the data as you wish.

With a product drilldown, the structures used to aggregate the data are predetermined.

In summarized analysis in Product Cost by Period, the data updated on product cost collectors is summarized at higher levels. If you want to display the summarized data for a cost object hierarchy, use the report category detailed reports.

With an order hierarchy with classification, you are free to define the summarized structures as you wish. However, you must use classification. This reduces performance as compared to a summarization hierarchy. Therefore, you should only use classification when you need to work with user-defined characteristics.

In summarized analysis in Product Cost by Order, the data updated on production orders and product cost collectors is summarized at higher levels.

Note: Whenever possible, you should use a summarization hierarchy instead of an order hierarchy with classification.

In summarized analysis in Product Cost by Sales Order, the data updated on the sales document items (normally the sales order items) is summarized at higher levels (such as the sold-to party).

In summarized analysis in Costs for Intangible Goods and Services, the data updated on internal orders with revenue is summarized at higher levels. Summarization for general cost objects is not supported.
