The selection versions in LIS enable you to save the data of a standard analysis or to predefine your view of the data.

The selection versions in LIS offer you the following options:

• You can already predefine the standard drilldown for the standard analysis in the selection version, as well as the key figures that are to be displayed. This means that you can predefine your view of the standard analysis. You can therefore specify different views of an information structure.

• You can define various levels of aggregation for a selection version, i.e. initial lists of the standard analyses (characteristic levels). You can choose from these aggregation levels for each selection version in an overview. This gives you the opportunity to predefine the way in which you start the standard analysis and to calculate the aggregation of the data beforehand.

• You can assign a selection version to a specific user. You can also use a distribution list to assign a selection version to two or more users.

• The selection versions are displayed for each information structure with the aggregation lists in the form of a transparent tree-structure. You can display this overview in two different ways for each information system:

• General
  (selection versions for all information structures of the respective information system)
• User-specific
  (all selection versions that are assigned to the user)

• You can use the selection versions to minimize the times required for making a selection. You can perform the selection of data for a selection version in the background. The area to analyze can also be assigned in the form of a variant. The dataset that has been ‘frozen’ in this way can then be analyzed with a high level of performance and a low system load. This procedure is particularly recommended when large amounts of data are involved in the selection.
