Before you can use a validation, you need to activate it. If, for example, you are using the validation in Controlling (CO), you need to activate it in CO. For information about using validations in CO, see the relevant CO documentation.

If you are using the validation in Special Purpose Ledger (FI-SL), you need to activate it there.

Procedure

  1. In Customizing for Special Purpose Ledger, choose Basic Settings ® Validation ® Maintain Local Validation (for local company codes) or Maintain Global Validation (for global company codes).
  2. The Change View "Validation for Special Purpose Ledger/CoCode": Overview screen (for local companies) or the Change View "Validation for Spec. Purpose Ledger/Glob.Co.": Overview screen (for global companies) appears.

  3. You can use the following additional processing functions on these screens.

    Display a specific company code/application area/callup point combination for a validation.

    Table view ® Change ® Display

    Display the table information.

    Table view ® Print ® Standard list

    Print all validations defined on the system.

    Table view ® Print ® Variable list

    Print specific validations based on user-defined selection criteria.

    Table view ® Save

    Save the table information you have entered.

    Table view ® Transport

    Prepare the table for transport under a correction number.

    Edit ® New entries

    Create a new entry.

    Edit ® Selections ® Select all

    Select all entries for further processing (for example, to delete them).

    Edit ® Selections ® Deselect all

    Deselect all selected entries.

    Edit ® Selections ® Select block

    Select a block of entries for further processing.

    Edit ® Delete

    Delete an entry(ies).

    Edit ® Copy as...

    Copy an entry for a new company code/global company.

    Edit ® Change fld contents

    Change the field contents for a validation definition.

    Edit ® Undo change

    Change revised validations back to their original definition.

    Goto ® Detail

    Display specific information for a validation definition.

    Goto ® Next entry

    Display the next validation entry.

    Goto ® Previous entry

    Display the previous validation entry.

    Goto ® Other entry...

    Display a specific validation entry.

    Choose ® By contents...

    Display the validation definitions by the field contents.

    Choose ® All selected entries

    Display only validation definitions that have been selected using the Edit function.

    Choose ® All changed entries

    Display only entries that have been changed while using the Change function at this time.

    Choose ® All created entries

    Display only entries that have been created while using the Create/Change functions at this time.

    Choose ® Display del. entries

    Display only entries that have been deleted using the Create/Change functions at this time.

    Utilities ® Compare ® Client 000

    Compare the validation entries with the entries delivered in client 000.

    Utilities ® Compare ® Other client...

    Compare the validation entries with the entries in another client.

    Utilities ® Compare ® Other system...

    Compare the validation entries with the entries in another system (for example, a test system versus a productive system).

    Utilities ® Request management

    Call up the Workbench Organizer, for example, to maintain and display transport requests.

    Environment ® Validation

    Create a validation.

    Environment ® Substitution

    Create a substitution.

     

  5. Choose Edit ® New entries.
  6. The New Entries: Overview of Created Entries screen appears.

  7. Enter the following data:
  8. – Local or global company code for the validation

    – Callup point code of the validation

    – Validation name

    – Activation level for the validation

  9. You can use the additional processing functions in the above table on this screen.
  10. Go back.
  11. To display the validation definition, move the cursor to the validation line and double-click.
  12. To save the activation of the validation, choose Table view ® Save.

The validation dependency is stored in a table for each application area code.

The following table is an example of the table structure for one application area code.

The activation field may vary from one application area code to another.

Example

You can define a validation that uses the application area code CO, but the validation is only active for company 1000 for postings made in CO.
