Retail Switch

Use

By setting the retail switch, you set up your SAP system as an SAP Retail system. Only by doing this can you use the entire scope of the functions offered by SAP Retail.

Integration

If you set your SAP system as an SAP Retail system, this places certain constraints on the functions you can use from other areas. You cannot use all Retail and non-retail functions simultaneously. The main reason for this is that the article master in an SAP Retail system differs from the article master in other manufacturing systems.

In certain cases, for example where companies have both manufacturing and retailing operations, it may be useful for these companies to combine functions which were developed solely for retailing or for manufacturing. For further information, see Usability of Standard R/3 Functions in SAP Retail.

Your system uses either standard SAP terminology or SAP Retail terminology (see Retail Terminology). However, this part of the documentation uses the term material for master data records that were created using the maintenance transaction in the standard SAP manufacturing system, and article for master data records that were created using the maintenance transaction in SAP Retail.

Prerequisites

You are only allowed to set up your system as an SAP Retail system if you have a valid license for SAP Retail.

Once you have set up your system as an SAP Retail system, you cannot reverse the setting.

Activities
