Partial Goods Issue Posting with HU

Use

You can use this function to post partial quantities of a handling unit (HU) as a goods issue.

You can carry out partial goods issue posting for the following:

This function is mainly of importance if you want to assign free HUs to different manufacturing orders. These HUs can contain material quantities for several manufacturing orders. You can use partial goods issue posting to withdraw part of the contents of an order and then use the HU for another manufacturing order.

Integration

This function can be used both in process manufacturing as well as in discrete manufacturing.

Prerequisites

  1. Handling units are used in production.
  1. Customizing: Partial-GI indicator

In Customizing you have specified whether a partial goods issue posting is allowed for all HUs.

The default value is defined for each order type. This means you can make various settings for different order types. It is usually a good idea to allow a partial GI posting for production orders, but not for process orders.

You make the settings in Customizing by choosing Handling Unit Management ® Basics -> Production ® Production Supply ® Set Partial GI Indicator:

The partial GI is allowed for all HUs that are created for the manufacturing order.

The partial GI is only allowed for free HUs.

During the picking process, you can decide whether or not a partial goods issue posting is allowed during the production process while assigning the free HUs to a manufacturing order.

  1. Customizing for The Partial GI Indicator: Reassign free HUs

In Customizing for the Partial GI Indicator, you can also define whether free HUs that are already assigned to an order can be reassigned to a different order.

Furthermore, you can specify whether an error message, a warning, or no message at all is to appear when reassigning an HU to an order.

You make the required settings in Customizing by choosing Handling Unit Management ® Basics -> Production ® Production Supply ® Set Partial GI Indicator:

Activities

Picking for Manufacturing Orders

In the Picking for Manufacturing Order dialog box, you specify whether or not a partial goods issue posting is allowed in the rest of the production run while assigning a free HU to a manufacturing order. You proceed as follows:

  1. On the Assign HU tab page, you assign a free HU to the manufacturing order.
  2. Select the HU and specify whether or not a partial goods issue is allowed.

HUs that are already assigned to another manufacturing order and were only picked can be copied to your current manufacturing order. If an HU has already been processed after being picked, it is not available for other orders until after a partial goods issue posting has been carried out.
