Alongside the existing methods for legacy data transfer (direct input and batch input) you now have the option of carrying out legacy data transfer using a newly developed BAPI. This legacy data transfer using BAPI is integrated in the Data Transfer Workbench, just as the direct input and batch input methods are.
In order to carry out legacy data transfer using BAPI, you create a task for a project and and choose "Load data into R/3 using BAPI".
You can also create an input file directly in the Data Transfer Workbench for transfer using BAPI (choose Goto -> Tools -> Files and file structures). The format of the input file is different from those for direct input and batch input.
Legacy data transfer using BAPI is not faster at the moment than transfer using batch input or direct input.
If you have only a small number of legacy assets to transfer, you can use the BAPI without the Data Transfer Workbench by using a Microsoft® Excel file.
